چکیده
Abstract Introduction The extended endoscopic approach (EEA) provides direct access for resection of tuberculum sellae (TSM) and olfactory groove meningiomas (OGM) but is associated with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak in up to 25% patients. To evaluate the impact improved skull base reconstructive techniques, we assessed published CSF percentages EEA over last two decades. Method Random-effects meta-analyses were performed studies between 2004-2020. Outcomes leak, gross total resection, visual improvement, intraoperative arterial injury 30-day mortality. For main analyses, publications pragmatically grouped based on publication year three categories: 2004-2010, 2011-2015, 2016-2020. Results We included 29 describing 540 TSM 115 OGM incidence dropped time from 22% (95% CI: 6-43%) 2004 2010, 16% 11-23%) 2011 2015, 4% 1-9%) 2016 2020. injury, mortality remained stable Conclusions report a noticeable decrease time, which might be attributed development techniques (e.g., hadad bassagasteguy flap, gasket seal), refined multilayer repair protocols, selected lumbar drain usage.

Extended endoscopic endonasal approach to the skull base.
OBJECTIVE Different approaches to the skull base have been developed through the sphenoidal sinus. Traditional boundaries of the trans-sphenoidal approach can be extended in antero-posterior and lateral planes. We review our experience with the extended endoscopic endonasal approach in the first 12 cases. METHODS We used the extended endoscopic endonasal approach in 12 patients with different...
متن کاملEndoscopic management of cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea from anterior skull base defects
Abstract Background: Over the past 20 years, the minimally invasive endoscopic approach has gained widespread acceptance. The study was performed to evaluate the diagnostic method and the success rate of endoscopically diagnosed and treated CSF rhinorrhea, and also investigations such as leakage site and etiologic factor. Methods: This retrospective CSF leakage management review of ...

AIM To present the results of endoscopic endonasal repair of ventral midline skull base cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak (VMSBL) at our institution and to discuss the technique and results from a neurosurgical perspective. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective analysis of all VMSBL cases that underwent endoscopic endonasal skull base approach (EESBA) for CSF leak repair at a single tertiary neur...
متن کاملEndoscopic endonasal approach for cerebrospinal fluid fistulae.
Different techniques have been proposed to repair cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea. Advances in nasal surgery led to a high success rate and low morbidity for the endonasal approach. It has become the favorite route for treating cerebrospinal fluid leaks of the anterior skull base. Better results have been obtained with the improvement of rigid endoscopes and intrathecal sodium fluorescein. In a ...
متن کاملEndoscopic endonasal approach for the treatment of anterior skull base tumours.
INTRODUCTION The increasing expertise of transnasal endoscopic surgery has recently expanded its indications to include the management of tumours affecting the skull base. We report our experience with endoscopic management of these tumours, emphasising the indications and surgical technique used. MATERIAL AND METHOD A retrospective analysis was performed of patients treated by an endoscopic ...
